PBR Names Mike Anderson As New Colorado Scouting Director

PBR Staff

Prep Baseball Report is proud to welcome Mike Anderson as our new Colorado Scouting Director. A native of Colorado with a long track record of success as a Division 1 head coach, Anderson’s baseball roots run thick and deep across the state.

A high-level talent evaluator and communicator, Anderson brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for Colorado baseball to the Prep Baseball Report.

While Anderson has achieved a lot over the course of his 30+ year coaching career, he is best known for his tenure at the University of Nebraska, where he guided the Cornhuskers to the school’s first College World Series in 2005, with a 57-15 record (best in school history). Anderson served as the head coach at Nebraska between 2003-2011, going 337-196-2 while earning Big 12 Coach of the Year honors and landing two national seeds in 2005 and 2006. Anderson also served as an assistant at Nebraska under Dave Van Horn from 1995-2002. In all, spent 16 years at Nebraska.

“Mike Anderson has achieved at a high level for a long time, and I couldn’t be more excited to have him on our team as our Colorado scouting director,” said Prep Baseball Report President Sean Duncan. “Mike has an enormous amount of pride in Colorado baseball, and I think his passion will resonate and, ultimately, benefit players, parents and coaches all across the state.”

After his tenure at Nebraska, Anderson took the head coach position at perennial power Regis Jesuit HS (CO) in 2012 before the college game came calling again. From 2013-2017, Anderson went back to the Big 12, where he served as an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma.

From Eaton, Colorado, Anderson played collegiately at Northern Colorado University, where he was drafted by the Anaheim Angels as an outfielder in 1986. Anderson played three years of pro ball before he first began his coaching career at Northern Colorado Lab School (1991-1994). He then went back to his alma mater at Northern Colorado as an assistant coach for a year before going to Nebraska to work under Van Horn.

Now Anderson will bring his baseball experiences, connections and passions for scouting to Colorado’s prep baseball scene. Anderson will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information Colorado has ever seen, and provide scouting coverage to all corners of the state. But he can’t do it alone. Please email him at [email protected] with college commitments, relevant news, and top players in your area.

“Family brought me back to this great state of Colorado,” said Anderson. “I am thrilled to stay and get an opportunity to partner with Prep Baseball Baseball Report.  I value their strong national reputation. I am excited to start expanding connections and provide great coverage for our Colorado kids.”
