PBR New England Spotlight Game: Chicopee vs Northampton

Early success and strong pitching leads to a Northamption 4-2 win over Chicopee.

Northampton jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs over the first two innings, highlighted by an Andrew Serio (’16) two RBI single in the bottom on the second. Serio later scored on an infield single by Tim Horton.

That was all Andy Grygorcewicz (’18) needed, as the tall right-hander preserved the lead, allowing only two runs, on five hits, two walks, over six strong innings, earning the win in a 4-2 victory.

Grygorcewicz ran into trouble in the top of the sixth, as Chicopee had runners on first and third with no outs.

With Chicopee threatening, Grygorcewicz managed to induce double play, which scored one run, but cleared the bases of all runners.

Jeff Zebrowski (’16) took the loss for Chicopee, as the southpaw surrendered four earned runs on ten hits, while striking out one over 5.1 innings of work. He added a homerun to right-centerfield in the third to get Chicopee on the board.
