PBR New England Spotlight Game: North Andover vs Danvers

Senior right fielder Danny Lynch stole the show in the Division II North Semifinals with two homeruns, including a game winning three-run homer in the 6th inning as Danvers was able to outlast North Andover.

Junior RHP Dean Borders went the first 5 1/3, allowing nine hits and three runs (two earned) before senior shortstop Andrew Olszak came on in relief to earn the victory.

Senior RHP Brendan Parisotto suffered the loss for the Scarlet Knights giving up six runs on six hits with six woulgaits and five strikeouts.

Senior shortstop Brian Varoutsas paced North Andover’s offense with three hits including a triple but was not enough to keep the season alive.

Varoutsas started the game with the triple but was stranded there, while Lynch was picked off second to end the Danvers 1st inning.

The Falcons would break through in the 2nd inning with a pair of runs. Junior catcher Matt Andreas and sophomore second baseman Tommy Mento walked before sophomore first baseman Zach Dillon ripped a double to center, scoring both runners.

Freshman center fielder Joe Quinlan got the Scarlet Knights within one leading off the 3rd with a homer to left. They would tie the score when Parisotto was driven in with a two-out single by junior Trevor Ham.

The Falcons got right back on top the following inning as Lynch lead off with a towering homerun to center. North Andover would tie it again in the 4th.

Senior left fielder Ryan Bessette singled, moved to second on an error and went to third on a single by junior right fielder Drew Finn, who promptly stole second. Varoutsos then singled to left, bringing home Bessette but Finn was gunned down at the plate to end the inning, with the score tied at three.

The game stayed quiet until the Falcons 6th inning.

Dillon started the inning with a triple to center that nearly struck the fence. Parisotto was then able to induce a pair of groundouts before walking Olszak to put runners on the corners. Then, with a full count, Lynch laced a fastball to right-center, easily clearing the fence for the 6-3 lead.

The Scarlet Knights put the tying run at the plate in the 7th inning but could not push anything across against Olszak and Danvers advanced to the North Final.
