OKLAHOMA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

It was another week full of impressive performances for Oklahoma high school baseball with more than a few players being deserving of the Player Of The Week title. This week, it was uncommitted 2019 OF Kaden Marshall  from Deer Creek who hit for power, average, and showed his speed. 

 

 

Kaden Marshall OF / RHP / Deer Creek , OK / 2019

A physically advanced 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame with strength throughout. The right-handed hitter batted for power and average last week and showed off his speed, going 10-for-16 (.625) with four doubles, a home run, seven stolen bases, 13 RBIs, and 13 runs scored.

Lane Porter 3B / 2B / Carl Albert, OK / 2018

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed pitcher did not put up jaw-dropping numbers, but the two-way performed in the clutch the the Titans. Porter came in, in the top of the 7th, and threw 5 pitches to get out of a jam tied 15-15 with Guthrie.The right-handed hitter then came up in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and hit a walk-off HR on a full count to clinch a home regional for Carl Albert.

Jaron Nail, UTIL/RHP, Hilldale, 2018 (Southern Arkansas, Football)
A 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. The right-handed hitter went 9-for-15 (.600) with three home runs, including a grand slam, and posted 11 RBIs. A true utility player, Nail pitched, caught, played both middle infield positions and played in the outfield all in one week.

Tanner Ladon, 3B/RHP, , Marlow, 2018 (Southern Nazarene College)
A 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame. The right-handed hitter went 6-for-9 (.667) with three doubles, four RBIs, and four runs scored. On the mound, the right-hander also tossed a five inning complete game shutout on 57 pitches, allowing on one hit and one walk while striking out four.

Trace Maddox, INF/RHP, Canute, 2019
A lean frame with some athleticism. Offensively, the right-handed hitter went 7-for-11(.636) with two doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBIs. On the mound, went 1-1 on the week with 11 strikeouts.  

B

Sam Webb, 3B/RHP, Southwest Covenant HS, 2018
A 6-foot, 190-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter went 6-for-12 with three doubles two home runs, and four RBI's. In a championship tournament game against Calumet, the right-hander pitched a no-hit shutout while striking out 15.

Honorable Mention

Nick Baustert, 3B, Okarche, 2021
A developing 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame. The right-handed hitter went 10-for-16 (.625) with two doubles and four RBIs, with the bulk of his damage being done ranked district play. Defensively, Baustert made a couple game saving plays.

Brendan Biffle, 3B/RHP, Varnum HS, 2021
An advanced 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame. Offensively, the left-handed hitter went 7-for-12 (.583) with two doubles, a triple, home run, and seven RBIs. On the mound, the right-hander won a game with a 6.2 inning effort, allowing  two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out seven.

 

 

Jakob Brandenberger SS / RHP / Putnam City West, OK / 2020

A 6-foot, 195-pound frame with strength throughout. The right handed hitter went 5-for-10 with two doubles. Brandenberger also jumped on the mound and tossed a complete game allowing only one earned run while striking out eight and only walking two.

 

 

 

 

Cayden Brumbaugh 2B / SS / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2021

A developing 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter was locked in at the dish going 10-for-20 with two doubles, a home run, and seven RBIs, all while not striking out a single time.

 

 

 

 

Caleb Case LHP / 1B / Stillwater, OK / 2019

A 6-foot, 190-pound frame with strength throughout. The two-way prospect put up solid numbers on both sides of the ball, going 9-for-21 (.429) from the left-side with four runs scored, four RBIs, three walks, a stolen base, and an HBP. On the mound, the left-hander shut down the hottest offensive in the state going 6.1 innings against Edmond North with three punch outs. 

 

 


Jarod Dondlinger, 2B/RHP, Stillwater, 2018
A 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame. The right-handed hitter was 9-for-19 (.474) with three doubles, five RBIs, five runs scored, two walks, and an HBP.  

Zach Douthit, SS/RHP, Dickson, 2018
A 5-foot-10, 195-pound frame. The right-handed hitter batted .538 through four games with two doubles, a home run, eight RBIs, five runs scored, and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases. Douthit slugged .923 and batted .714 with runners in scoring position

Caleb Gilliss, INF/RHP, Putnam City West, 2018
Gilliss threw a complete game shutout against Northwest Classen, punching out 10 and only allowing one walk.

 

 

Colby Jarnagin 3B / 1B / Enid , OK / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 190-pound durable frame with strength. The left-handed hitter went 6-for-11 (.545) last week with a double and six RBIs. The right-handed pitcher also got on the mound and twirled two scoreless innings.

 

 

 

 

 

Carter LaValley SS / 2B / Carl Albert , OK / 2019

A 5-foot-11, 185-pound frame with strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter was 4-for-7. (.571) with a double, home run, four runs scored, two RIBs in two games. 

 

 

 

 

Brett Smith OF / Edmond North, OK / 2018

A Seminole State commit with a lean frame and wiry strength The right-handed hitting outfielder went  10-for-19 (.526) with a double, triple, seven RBIs, and four runs scored in six games played.

 

 

 

 

Tyler Watson SS / RHP / Stillwater, OK / 2018

The Hutchinson CC commit is an athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. The right-handed hitter absolutely filled up the stat sheet, going 9-for-19 (.474) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, six RBIs, eight runs scored, five stolen bases, three HBPs, and a walk.
