PBR Spotlight Game: Clear Fork vs. Clyde in sectional matchup

By Matthew Lee

Clear Fork defeated Clyde 4-1 to advance to the sectional championship against the #2 seed Tiffin Columbia next Tuesday at Clyde High School.

In a battle of senior lefties, it was Clear Fork's Logan Perkins out dueling Clyde's Seth Stockmaster.

Clyde struck first in the top of the 3rd inning. Sophomore Blake Miller lead off with a double and advanced to 3rd on a sac fly. Miller came in to score on a base hit by Senior Zach Prentice to make it a 1-0 game.

Clear Fork struck for two runs in the bottom of the 4th. Perkins lead off with a walk followed by junior Trevor Carr's single. After a walk, sophomore catcher Mason Swank singled to put Clear Fork on top 2-1.

In the 5th, Clear Fork added two more runs to make it 4-1. Sophomore Travis Born lead off with a single, Perkins walked, and Carr sacrificed the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Swank hit a ground ball that was mis-played to plate Born. Perkins came in to score on a bases loaded walk to senior Doug Woblet.

Perkins picked up the complete game victory, giving up one run and six hits, while striking out six.
