MARYSVILLE, OH – The Westerville Central Warhawks traveled to Marysville in a win or go home sectional final game.

With Aron Mowery of Marysville and Tyler Bertelsen of Westerville Central taking the hill, runs were going to come at a premium.

Westerville Central had the first opportunities of the game to get on the board. In the 2nd and 3rd inning, the Warhawks singled to start the inning, but the following hitters were quickly shut down by pitcher Aron Mowery.

Shortly after, the Marysville lineup was able to string two timely hits together in the bottom of the 3rd. With two outs, leadoff hitter Kyle Hites doubled down the third baseline, and was plated by a Corey Gould RBI single.

With a 1-0 lead Mowery’s energy spiked, and he cruised through the Warhawk lineup striking out five batters through the first five innings.

In the 5th inning the Marysville lineup looked for insurance runs. Noah Arbogast started the inning with a single, and quickly advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After another Kyle Hites single, the table was set with runners at first and third with one out. Corey Gould took advantage, striking a deep sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the day. Directly after, three-hole hitter Billy Kidd drove an opposite field RBI single pushing the Marysville lead to 3-0.

Mowery strolled through the 6th, and only needed three more outs to advance in the state tournament.

In the 7th, Westerville Central worked two guys on base bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs. Aron Mowery shut the door inducing a weak ground ball giving the Monarchs a 3-0 complete game victory.
