PBR Spotlight Game: Tiffin Columbian vs. Shelby in sectional matchup

Tiffin Columbian knocked off Shelby in sectional play. Tiffin Columbian will face Clear Fork Tuesday at 5:00 at Clyde High School for the sectional crown.

Senior pitcher Nick Loura was unhittable as he out dualed lefty Cal Vonstein (Ohio Northern recruit) in the 8-0 victory. Loura took a no-hitter into the 7th inning but Shelby was able to collect two singles to break up the no-hit bid.

Tiffin Columbian wasted no time getting to Vonstein in the first inning. Senior Jonah Boyer walked, stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on a sacarifice bunt. He then scored on a scarifice fly to center by senior Tyler Fuhrer. Senior Carter Mullins doubled and scored on an two base error by Shelby's left fielder to make it a 2-0 game.

Tiffin Columbian added to their lead in the 2nd on a lead off single by senior Daniel Wood who was sacrificed to 2nd. Boyer singled to drive in Wood and make it a 3-0 game.

In the 3rd inning for Tiffin Columbian, Fuhrer lead off with a triple and scored on a very well executed squeeze play by junior Mike Rohrbach to make it 4-0.

The game stayed 4-0 until the bottom of the 6th, as Tiffin Columbian senior, Logan Tracy lead off with a triple and scored on a double by Wood to make it 5-0. Junior Vince Anway doubled in a run, Boyer had a bunt single and stole 2nd base and Fuhrer had his 3rd hit as he had a 2-RBI single to make it 8-0.

Loura picked up the win pitching 7 innings giving up 2 singles while striking out 10.
