PBR Spotlight Game: Warren De La Salle vs #4 Grosse Pointe South

# 4 ranked Grosse Pointe South took on Catholic League semifinalist Warren De La Salle. In a slugfest, De La Salle out-slugged South 17-12.

South scored their 1st run in the bottom half of the opening inning.

2015 Adrian commit Justin McMann crushed a double to right center field and later scored on an infield error.

De La Salle battled back to tie the score 1-1 in the top half of the 2nd inning.

2016 Robert Zurawski legged out an infield single and later stole second base. 2016 Matt Held lined a single to left field scoring Zurawski.

De La Salle exploded with a huge 12 hit, 13 run 4th inning.

2018 Ben Hyndman had 2 hits, Zurawski added 2 hits, Held doubled, Macomb CC commit Nick Caruso added 2 hits, Hope commit Nick Lepore singled, unsigned senior Chris Adsit doubled and 2015 Northwood signee Daniel Michalak added a single.

2017 Brad Thompson led off the bottom of the 4th with a leadoff walk. 2015 Albion commit Andrew Fabry singled to right field, followed by unsigned senior Zack Thalgott’s RBI double to down the left field line. Fabry later scored on a fielder’s choice.

South added 6 more runs in the bottom of the 5th. 

Unsigned senior Will Norris was hit with a pitch, then scored on a 2-run bomb over the center field gate by McMann. Unsigned senior Ryan Liagre doubled off the center field gate, unsigned senior James Fishback walked, Thompson singled, and 2017 Logan Mico smashed an RBI single down the left field line. South added 3 additional runs off errors closing the gap to 5 runs.

De La Salle scored their final 3 runs in the last inning.

Unsigned senior Darren Rydzewski and Adsit both lined singles to the outfield. Michalak doubled scoring Rydzewski, and unsigned senior Zack Zschering singled to left scoring both Adsit and Michalak.

McMann walked to begin the final inning, followed by back to back home runs from Fishback and Thompson scoring 3 runs.

De La Salle won the slugfest 17-12 over GP South.
