DIAMOND NOTES

It was a loud last two weeks for the top prospect in Washington’s junior class, as C Carson Ohland (Tahoma, 2023; Washington commit) proved his prowess at the plate. The switch-hitting backstop went 6-for-15 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He walked multiple times as well and scored a handful of runs, operating at the top of Tahoma’s lineup throughout.

RHP Felix Schlede (West Seattle, 2022) delivered an impressive performance to our staff when we saw him on April 11th. Still uncommitted, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound senior didn’t allow a hit through five innings of work, striking out 13 batters. Schlede ran his fastball up to 92 mph, pitching at 90-91 mph. Following Schlede in relief was LHP Miles Gosztola (West Seattle, 2023; Gonzaga), who helped complete the group no-hit effort. Gosztola struck four batters out in two innings of work, walking one. He’s currently the fifth-ranked prospect in the Washington junior class.

RHP Jake Smith (Mount Si, 2022; Lower Columbia College) threw six quality innings in front of our scouts on April 13th, helping lead Mount Si to victory. He struck out eight batters and walked none throughout his outing, holding Bothell to just two runs.

Most recently, uncommitted RHP Dylan Skolfield (2023) dazzled for Eastlake in a five inning shortened game. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-hander ran his fastball up to 88 mph, pitching in the mid-80s and allowed just one earned run throughout his start as Eastlake won 12-1.

6-foot-2, 170-pound left-handed hitting OF Jay O’Neill (2023) went 5-for-6 in two games last week for Federal Way. O’Neill doubled, tripled, and drew a walk while scoring a combined five runs in the contest.

LHP Adam Jay (Tahoma, 2025) threw a complete game inning shutout against Kentlake last week. The freshman southpaw gave up only four hits and issued just one walk while punching out nine batters in the win.

Senior MIF/RHP Andrew Moberly (Kentridge, 2022) pitched six innings in a win against Federal Way, punching out 12 batters and giving up only one run and walk. The left-handed hitter was also 3-for-5 at the plate in two games last week with three walks and three runs scored.

C/RHP Micah Hagler (Kennedy Catholic, 2023) scattered four hits in six innings of one-run ball for Kennedy Catholic last week. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Hagler struck out five, elevating his season total to 33 as of last week. He added four hits at the plate and walked twice, driving in two runs.

OF Gage Bruce (Woodinville, 2022) earned a spot on this list after an impressive showing last week. The Portland signee went 3-for-3 at the dish with a double and a walk last Friday, driving in a run as well. He swiped a bag in the win too, raising his season total to eight.

LHP Quinn Hubbs (Cheney, 2024) is back in the mix after another strong start. He posted his 2nd complete game of the season, going 7 innings, allowing 1 H, 1 BB and 10 K on just 84 pitches against Ferris in a 1-0 victory. As of now, Hubbs sports a K/BB ratio of 42/7 on the mound.

Henry Jackson senior Hunter Komine (2022) was perfect at the plate, reaching safely in all five at-bats in Jackson’s 10-4 key conference win over Lake Stevens on Friday. He led the Pack with three singles and a double, scoring three times in the process.

RHP Cleo Tessaro (Ingraham, 2023) threw 6 ⅔ innings last Wednesday to beat West Seattle. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound uncommitted junior held one of the state’s top programs to two hits, striking out four and allowing just one earned run. Backed by Tessaro’s impressive outing, Ingraham picked up an important 2-1 victory.
