RHP/INF Logan Baumgartner (2023; Wisconsin-Stevens Point commit, basketball) earned two wins on the mound for Medford Area last week, reflecting what he’s done for the Raiders all season, as he was the winning pitcher against No. 17 Mosinee earlier this season, which remains the program’s lone conference loss in 2023.

In the past week, the right-hander threw six innings for Medford. In his first appearance against Lakeland, Baumgartner entered the game from the bullpen, going two innings and striking out five of the eight batters he faced. With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth frame, Baumgartner sparked the offense with a lead-off single which began an eight-run march into a clear lead.

Three days later, Baumgartner was back at it, this time starting for Medford. The three-sport star pitched four innings in a five-inning run-rule victory, adding on to his high strikeout totals. He back-to-back singles and a balk in between allowed Baumgartner to relinquish his one and only run of the week, and he punched out another 10 batters bringing his weekly total to 15 across just six innings of work. And in this same ballgame, Baumgartner was also 4-for-4 at the plate with two homers, including a grand slam, and seven RBIs. The win gave Medford its 14th straight, a program record, and they’d go on to win a 15th consecutive game on Saturday before dropping the second contest of a doubleheader at Abbotsford.

Baumgartner’s dominance at the plate is matched by his offensive numbers this past week, as he went 10-for-13 with a double, three homers, and he drove in 13 runs. On the mound, he allowed just two hits, one run, in six innings over which he K’d 15 batters.
