Pennsylvania Daily Roundup for April 30th



No. 1 Norwin 13,  Albert Gallatin 0
Norwin, ranked No. 1 in the state, continued to roll with the bats and pitching. With the win, Norwin moves to 14-0 on the season. The Knights were led by Max McDowell who was two-for-three with three  RBI and three runs scored. Nick Kolat was one-for-two with three RBI and picked up the win on the mound. Jake Pribanic was two-for-four with a double and two RBI.

Marple Newton 6,  No. 4 Conestoga 5
Marple Newton (11-2) rallied in the seventh inning to beat the No. 4 team in the state, staking their claim to a spot in the rankings this coming week. MN was down to its final out trailing 5-4, when Anthony Rosanio singled to tie the game. Rosanio stole second and was driven home on a double to right center by Ryan Tecco. Rosanio finished the game 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

No. 5 Nazareth 14,  William Allen 4
Nazareth trailed 3-2 after one inning but four runs in the third inning to regain the lead and then tacked on eight more in the fourth and fifth to win going away. Will Godiska led the offense with a double and four RBI.

No. 8 Cedar Crest 2,  Warwick 1
Cedar Crest used tough pitching and some timely hitting to move to (14-3) on the year. Dan Black went seven strong innings, giving up four hits and one run for the win.

No. 9 Northern York 2,  Northeastern 1
Anthony Salamone and Vince Apicella combined to hold Northeastern to two hits and one run. Salamone picked up the win and Apicella came on in the sixth inning to gain the save for Northern York (12-3)

No. 16 Shippensburg 5,  Carlisle 0
Shippensburg scored three runs in the top of the seventh to break open a tight ballgame, moving to 13-3 on the season. Andrew Koser pitched a complete game surrendering seven hits, but no runs.

Fox Chapel 1,  No. 17 Shaler 0
Fox Chapel (3-12) pulled of its second major upset in a week downing No. 17 Shaler (11-4). Shaler falls to 6-3 in Section 1AAAA dropping out of what had been a three-way tie with Seneca Valley and North Allegheny.

No. 19 Hershey 15,  Bishop McDevitt 3
Zach Drayer’s fifth inning grand slam ignited a seven run uprising as Hershey (13-1) downed Bishop McDeviit (9-8) in six innings. Drayer also picked up the win on the mound going the first five innings and yielding three runs.

Vincentian Academy 10, Springdale 9
Vincentian Academy (8-5, 8-2) beat Springdale (10-4, 8-2) to move into a first place tie in Section 4A.  Anthony Smaldino was the hitting star going 3-for-3 with two doubles and the game winning hit. Springdale came into the game with a one game lead in the section standings over Vincentian. Evan Gourley also had a big day at the plate going two-for-four with a double and four RBI.
