Phoenix Rising Stars: Quick Hits

On Saturday, April 1st, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Phoenix Rising Stars at Grand Canyon University. The Phoenix Rising Stars is an open event to all prospects in the 2027-2028 classes. Giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field. 

Today, we’ll start by giving you the Top Performers from the Phoenix Rising Stars, which we like to call Quick Hits. Robert Villa III SS / 2B / N/A, AZ / 2027

One of the top prospects to show up at this years Rising Stars event in middle infielder Bobby Villa lll. Villa shows a high level skill set with the glove at shortstop with an above average arm across the diamond. At the plate Villa is a switch hitter showing the ability to control the barrel from both sides while spraying line drives to both sides of the field. Villa has already punched his ticket to Georgia as he will be representing Team Arizona at this years Junior Futures Games.

 

Dylan Keith OF / RHP / Red Mountain, AZ / 2027

One to keep an eye on in the 2027 class is outfielder and right handed pitcher Dylan Keith. Keith had one of the top workouts on the day especially during the batting practice portion. Keith has a tall lean frame at 6-foot-2 155 pounds with plenty of room for added strength and size. Keith has a tall narrow stance in the box with the majority of his weight on his backside, he has a quick load with a quick flat bat that produced hard hit line drives and deep fly balls to the pull side. 

 

Jace Wright OF / RHP / Notre Dame, AZ / 2027

The 5-foot-10 outfielder and right handed pitcher was a standout in multiple fashions at Saturday's Rising Stars. In the outfield Jace had smooth actions with a confident glove with a 77mph arm and accurate arm on his throws. At the plate Wright works everything to the middle of the field with a tight lower half and good hands. On the Mound Wright had one of the top velos of the day at 80mph with a high slot.

Max Germaine C / OF / Mountain View, AZ / 2027

The 6-foot-1 160 pound prospect put together some great rounds of BP on Saturday. Germaines large athletic frame produced loads of power to the pull side with a max EV of 87 mph. Germaine showcased a wide balanced set up in the box with a quick toe lift load and a flat powerful path that showed consistent hard contact. 

 

Sam Jenkins RHP / 1B / Notre Dame Prep, AZ / 2027

The leader in the clubhouse in multiple categories on Saturday was 6-foot 190 pound Sam Jenkins. Jenkins has a strong athletic frame all around and it showed in his rounds of BP. Jenkins had an event high EV of 93 mph, showing long levers at the plate with power to the big part of the field. On the mound Jenkins had the highest velo of the day at 80.1mph with a short over the top action. 

 

Ethan Fox C / 3B / Brophy College Prep, AZ / 2027

The 6-foot 175 pound prospect had a great showing on Saturday morning. Fox has a strong athletic build with athletic actions in the field and in the box. At the plate Fox has a tall athletic stance with his knees just outside shoulder width. He has a strong inside out path with a light scissor kick in his back leg, producing line drives and fly balls to the middle and opposite field. 

 

Brady Trujillo LHP / 1B / Canyon View, AZ / 2027

6-foot-1 205 pound left handed hitting Brady Trujillo stood out at the plate and on the mound in Saturdays Phoenix Rising Stars. A the plate Trujillo showed some power from the left side having the second highest exit velocity of the day at 89.7 and the furthest max distance at 338 feet. Trujillo has a wide stance his with high starting hands with a violent flat to slight uphill path producing hard line drives and fly balls to the pull side. On the mound Trujillo has a short stride with whippy mid 3/4 slot that topped out at 78 mph. 

 

Zeke Lopez C / Vista Grande , AZ / 2027

Zeke Lopez was a standout from the start of the event as the Catchers were the first ones to do defensive evals. Lopez showcased a quick transfer and accurate arm to second base with an event low pop time of 1.94. At the plate Lopez has a wide stance with his bat high above his shoulder, his path works direct to the baseball producing a ground ball to line drive profile.
