Chris Rodriguez, 2B, Blackman HS, 2016rodriguez

The 5-foot-9, 167-pound 2B flashed projectable skills at the Fall Top Prospect Games Event held at Lipscomb University on November 1.

Though still recovering from a lower leg injury suffered earlier in the fall, Rodriguez showed solid defensive and offensive dexterity.  In the field he showed active feet and precise routes to the ball to compliment soft hands and a quick, clean exchange,  He uses longer arm action and a high-3/4 arm slot to produce accurate throws to the bag.

At the plate, Rodriguez hits from a slight crouch with good balance.  He shows good hand usage with a gap to gap approach that produces line drives.  He took an impressive round of batting practice where he squared several balls in his round.  Due to the leg injury, Rodriguez did not run a home to first base.

Rodriguez showed some grit with his ability to compete in lieu of not being 100 percent.  His skill set and competiveness help make him one to keep an eye on at winter events.
