Player Spotlight: Gallatin 2017 OF Jordan Mason

By Doug Hall
Tennessee Director of Scouting

Jordan Mason, OF, Gallatin HS, 2017

At 6-foot-1, 205-pounds, Mason is a three sport athlete who displays a passion for the game of baseball.  He possesses true athletic ability, displays all the tools necessary to succeed on the field, and will only improve as he progresses through his high school career.

Defensively, Mason gets a good jump and takes accurate routes to the ball.  He shows good arm strength that should continue to improve as he gets accustomed to playing on bigger fields and shows the ability to play all three outfield positions well.

At the plate, Mason shows patience and rarely misses the fastball.  He has the power to change the game with one swing of the bat and possesses the speed that causes defenses to tighten up when he is on the base paths.

Not yet a finished product, which gives him tremendous upside, Mason must continue to improve his mental approach and preparation, but there is no question about his ability as he works his way toward being an elite prospect.
