POWER 25 WEEK NINE REVIEW 

No. 1 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks)

Notre Dame swept their four games this past week, pushing their record to 20-2. They defeated No. 10 Huntington Beach, No. 19 JSerra, and No. 21 Orange Lutheran. They resume league play this week with three games.

No. 2 Santa Margarita

Santa Margarita went 2-2 this week in the Boras Classic, dropping games to No. 4 Aquinas and Maranatha. They beat No. 3 Corona and No. 6 Etiwanda, landing their record at 16-5. They start back with league play on Tuesday in a three-game series vs. Mater Dei and a Saturday matchup against No. 7 Villa Park.

No. 3 Corona

Corona started off the week with a loss to No. 2 Santa Margarita but managed to defeat No. 16 Cypress and formerly ranked La Mirada. Their record sits at 15-5 with three league games this week.

No. 4 Aquinas

Aquinas faced only Power 25 competition this past week, beating No. 16 Cypress and No. 2 Santa Margarita while dropping games to No. 10 Huntington Beach and No. 21 Orange Lutheran. Their record is 14-4 with four games this week.

No. 5 Valley Christian (San Jose)

Valley Christian won all three of their games this week including a victory over No. 17 Bellarmine. They have three games this week as their record stands at a strong 16-3.

No. 6 Etiwanda

Etiwanda went 2-2 this week, losing to both No. 2 Santa Margarita and No. 19 JSerra. Their record is 13-5 with four games this week with a matchup vs. No. 3 Corona.

No. 7 Villa Park

Villa Park lost three out of four games this week against all unranked teams, lowering their record to 14-9. They face No. 2 Santa Margarita on Saturday with two other games earlier in the week.

No. 8 Whitney

Whitney went 2-1 against a league opponent with the loss coming from an eighth-inning walk-off. They continue league play with three games as they hold a 15-3 record.

No. 9 De La Salle

De La Salle went 3-1 this past week, picking up a win against formerly ranked Elk Grove which brings them to a record of 13-4. They have three games this week.

No. 10 Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach went 3-1 in tournament play, beating La Mirada, Mater Dei, and No. 4 Aquinas before losing to No. 1 Notre Dame on Friday.

No. 11 Cardinal Newman

Cardinal Newman remains perfect with a 17-0 record after winning all three of their games. They have two league games this week.

No. 12 Bonita

Bonita won both of their games this past week boosting them to a 13-4 record. They face a league opponent for two games this week.

No. 13 South Hills

South Hills’ record sits at 16-5 after winning two games last week. They have three games this week.

No. 14 Franklin (Elk Grove)

Franklin swept formerly ranked Elk Grove over three games and won a fourth game against a non-league opponent on Saturday. These four wins move their record to 18-4 with three games this week.

No. 15 La Costa Canyon

La Costa Canyon went 2-1 in league play this past week bringing their record to 14-2. They have a three-game league series this week.

No. 16 Cypress

Cypress won two out of four games this week, dropping games to No. 3 Corona and No. 4 Aquinas bringing their record to 18-6. They have two league games this week.

No. 17 Bellarmine

Bellarmine went 1-1 this week, dropping a big game to No. 5 Valley Christian on Wednesday. Their record sits at 12-5-1 with three games this week.

No. 18 Gahr

Gahr swept league and non-league opponents this week in four games bringing their record to 18-2-1. They have another four games this week.

No. 19 JSerra

JSerra started their week by beating No. 6 Etiwanda before losing to No. 1 Notre Dame 3-0. They bounced back with a win over Norco, bringing their record to 12-8. They have a three-game league series this week.

No. 20 Harvard Westlake

Harvard Westlake swept Sierra Canyon in three games to bring their record to 15-7. They start another three-game league series this week.

No. 21 Orange Lutheran

Orange Lutheran finished the week with a 14-8-1 record after going 3-1 in tournament play. They dropped a 1-0 nailbiter to No. 1 Notre Dame but picked up a big 8-2 win over No. 4 Aquinas. They resume league play this week with three games.

No. 22 Archbishop Mitty

Archbishop Mitty won their only game of last week by a score of 14-1. Their record sits at 14-4 with four games this week against league opponents.

No. 23 Bullard

Bullard beat a league opponent twice this week with their offense putting up 31 runs over those games. Their record stands at 14-3 with two more league games this week.

No. 24 Eastlake

Eastlake scored 32 runs across the span of two games this past week. Winning both games, their record sits at 15-2 with two games this week.

No. 25 Hollister

Hollister experienced their second loss of the week on Monday and then bounced back with a 4-3 win on Friday to bring their record to 13-2. They have three games this week.
