Preseason Preview: Seneca HS

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

The Seneca Red Hawks completed their 2012 season with a 5-26 record under first year coach Larry Williams. Coach Williams expects better things from his team this year as he heads into his second season at the helm with 8 returning seniors and a squad with improved fundamentals and team chemistry.

The Red Hawks offense will rely heavily on junior shortstop Sean Playforth and senior outfielder Darryl Keels.  Playforth hit .327 last season and was an All-District selection, setting a school record with 36 stolen bases.  Keels was an All-District selection as well, hitting .335, with good speed and a solid arm from the outfield.  Coach Williams also expects solid offensive contributions from senior 3B Alex Treadway and senior 2B and team captain Tre Huddleston.  Also look for junior Zac Farhat to provide some pop in the Red Hawk lineup.

Coach Williams also expects key contributions on the mound from Keels, Treadway, and Farhat.

Look for an improved Seneca team on the diamond this spring. The Red Hawks get their season underway with a March 8th home game against Iroquois.
