Preseason Preview: Torrance Tartars

PBR California Staff

New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.

We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

SEASON OUTLOOK:

The Tartars were off to a hot 2020 season before being shut down and now bring a much younger team into 2021. Though they may be young, they’re still bringing the same competitive attitude to 2021 and are expecting to have another season where they find themselves atop the Pioneer League. With two D1 commits on the left side of the infield and a strong group of seniors to round it out, the Infield defense will be a major asset for Coach Ybarra this season. That infield will be counted on to support a young and growing pitching staff on both sides of the ball. If the youth develops like Coach Ybarra believes they will, the Torrance Tartars will be a tough battle for Division 3 in 2021.
