Scouting Report
Background: We’ve seen the 2021 grad Spoljaric for multiple years now and he really seems to be rounding into form and maturing into the pitcher we envisioned him to become. A member of last year's Future Games roster, Spoljaric has been up to 88 mph with his heater from ¾ arm slot with natural run and some length in his take away. He will incorporate both a changeup and curveball in his secondary stuff and the curveball has a chance to become a slider with the arm slot and turn himself into a nasty sinker/slider combo. The body projects well at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds and has really matured this winter with added strength which will be a big component for Spoljaric. The family genes are there as Dad pitched in the big leagues for 6 seasons and big brother Garner is a junior at Stetson.
Outlook: Spoljaric will arguably be on one of the top 17u pitching staffs in the country this summer and he plays a big reason why many are giving them that notoriety. It’s easy to expect the fastball velocity will jump and can see him live in the upper 80’s range while flashing 90+ at some point in 2020. The ability to repeat his delivery and pound the zone with his fastball will be huge and confidence from outings at the Future Games and his Gold medal start at the Canada Cup should help guide him through the season and into more big game moments. The stuff, the frame, and actions are all there for the 5th ranked prospect in the 2021 Ontario class and expect Spoljaric to be on radars across the college industry.
