Prospects to Know: 2021 LHP

April 30, 2020.  With Summer fast approaching and the uncertainty of club schedules, recruiting opportunities and travel, the PBR Colorado Staff is focused highlighting this talented group of 2021’s.  PROSPECTS TO KNOW intends to create effortless lists of Colorado’s top players to follow in this promising class.  

Our 2020 Class currently has 104 players committed to playing collegiate baseball.  At this time, Colorado has 9 announced commitments in this 2021 class.  (Cale Lansville, RHP, ThunderRidge, LSU), (Ryan Ure, LHP, Eaton, Oklahoma State) (Greysen Carter, RHP, Fairview, Vanderbilt), (Alec Willis, RHP, Regis Jesuit, Minnesota), (Landon Boyd, C, Legend, Oklahoma), (Adam Moser, OF, Fairview, Oklahoma), (Radek Birkholz, RHP/SS, Valor Christian, Notre Dame),  (Logan Carlisle, RHP, Chatfield , Air Force), JD Jones, C, Fairview, Miami).

SOUTHPAWS

Cale Claridge 1B / OF / Legacy, CO / 2021

Claridge has a large frame at 6-foot-2, 207-pounds and is a left-handed hitting first basement and left-handed pitcher in the 2021 class. At the plate, starts upright and wide, in line stride, quick hands, level bat path, showed hard contact off the bat and power to the gaps during round. Exit velocity was 77 mph. Defensively, quick off the bag, clean transfers, high three-quarter release, positional velocity of 85 mph, fairly accurate throws Repeatable motion and mechanics on the mound. Arm is over the top to high 3/4’s at times. Fastball runs away from the hitter and sat 79-81 mph. Added a 63-65 mph curve with tight rotation and 2/7 break in the zone.

 


Nathan Gutierrez LHP / 1B / Douglas County, CO / 2021

Tall and fall from the mound.  Plant foot lands short and he drives hard over his front side.  Arm stays consistent on all pitches and he delivers from high ¾ arm slot.  Fastball sat 79-80 mph with strong arm side run.  He mixed in a 65-67 mph curve with sweeping 2/7 break.
