Q & A With Unsigned Senior Dylan Roller (Lee's Summit North)

Dylan Roller, (Lee's Summit North, 2014) is a 5-foot-7 160-pound C/3B.  At the Prospect Identification Showcase on November 3 in Topeka, Roller posted a pop-time that ranged from 2.16 to 2.29 with a throwing velocity of 71 mph. He hits with no stride and his lower half works well.  He has a level bat path and line drive approach.  His bat speed was clocked at 78 mph. We had a chance to talk with Roller about his future. 

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Roller: Ottawa University, McPherson, Doane University, Wartburg University.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Roller: I took a visit to Ottawa University, about a month ago. 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.) 

Roller: I really would just like to play ball somewhere. But, I really like the small school small campus feel, it fits me I think. 

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? 

Roller: I feel like I did well my junior year, I played JV at LSN, but I was given the opportunity to come up to varsity for districts. I played in the last 3 innings of the game versus Raytown High School. I played shortstop that game and had 2 hits. We went on to beat Blue Springs yet lost to Blue Springs South in the districts championship.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Roller: I would like to be the starting varsity catcher, and get noticed and receive a scholarship.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Roller: I played summer ball and fall ball for the Midwest Blacksox.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Roller: I play rec basketball.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Roller: My ACT score was a 25, GPA 2.6
