Name: Dave "Bubba" Hollins

Position: SS

PBR New York sat down with Orchard Park standout Dave "Bubba" Hollins for a question and answer session.

PBR: How did yourself prepared for the 2014 season?

Hollins: I prepared for this year by training this fall and winter in the weight room. I've been working on my speed this off-season, and I've been working on my hitting and fielding as well.

PBR: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a baseball player?

Hollins: Strengths; I play the game as hard as anybody. I'm a steady hitter and fielder who makes solid contact. I have plus instincts for the game, and my speed and and arm strength has come along way. I am a good leader. Weaknesses; I need to develop some more power at the plate.

PBR: Tell us about your college choice and about the upcoming draft.

Hollins: I am committed to play at St. Petersburg College, its a good location and a good baseball school to prepare for the next level. I'm in my senior year and I am looking forward to the upcoming amateur player draft this June.

PBR: Who is the best player in you area you have played against?

Hollins: Mark Armstrong who graduated from Clarence last year. Mark was a 3rd round draft pick by the Reds.

PBR: Who is the best team you have seen in your area?

Hollins: The best team would be Lancaster.

PBR: Can you tell our readers a fun fact about yourself others might not know?

Hollins: A fun fact is my nickname Bubba, my mom gave me the nickname as a baby because I had chubby cheeks.

* Bubba's dad Dave Hollins attended Orchard Park HS and was a 6th round draft pick by the Padres in 1987 out of the University of South Carolina. Dave Hollins made his MLB debut April 12, 1990 and finished his decorated 12 year career in 2002.
