PBR: Why did you choose Evansville?

Foley:  First, I felt that Coach Carroll believes I will first, get a good education.  Secondly, my style of play fits within the system he has in place.  Lastly, it is also a small school that plays in a top 5 RPI rated conference...The Missouri Valley.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Foley:  I felt that both E.Michigan and E. Kentucky had programs that my approach to the game, and how those schools played, were a good fit.  I also had football discussions with several schools as a possession receiver.   I really wanted to catch balls for Western Kentucky...but they only offered me a walk-on spot. 

PBR:  You recently attended PBR’s Top Prospect Showcase.  How did that help you in the recruiting process?

Foley:  PBR Showcase was a turning point in my recruiting...it allowed many scouts to see my measurables and have them documented and distributed.  I doubt without PBR, I would be at Evansville.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? 

Foley:  I had heard from many of the guys at Moeller who have been through it that it is a rough process, so my expectations were pretty low and I was prepared for the reality of how difficult it is.   One of our team Dad's (Mr. Maccohocci, Brad's dad) told me it only takes one place to really like you...and he was right.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Foley:  It is sort of strange...I am very excited to be invited to be at that level...but I know I must constantly improve to be in a position to help Coach Carroll win a MVC title.  The challenge of it all has me very pumped.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Foley:  To learn the system and contribute wherever possible to help the team win.  I will probably play Second Base.   

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Evansville baseball?

Foley:  Coach Carroll is about three things: On base%, fielding %, and stealing...all three are what I am about...so I think Coach Carroll saw a good fit, as did I.  

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Foley:  I played for the Cincinnati Baseball Club and Coached by Cary Daniel.   I always like the time spent between games and in the hotel playing pranks and having a good time...just enjoying the summer...and realizing how lucky we are to be able to play baseball.  

PBR: What were your stats last spring season at Cincinnati Moeller?

Foley:  I did not play as a junior...I was the back up to Seniors Ty Amann (Ohio U) and Jordan Simpson (Furman).   Those guys helped me learn to become a senior player and how to win a Championship.  I am looking forward to defending our title in 2013.  I understand back to back baseball titles are very rare...so I bet Coach Held is coming up with a new motivational T-Shirt as we speak.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Foley:  Taylore Cherry.   I hit the ball very hard against him but could not get them to drop.  He is very special and I hope he does great as he progresses.
