PBR: Why did you choose Calvin?
Stewart: It had a good facilities and a good coach there I liked. I met some of the players and they too were very cool. I love the atmosphere there as well.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Stewart: I was considering Oakland University and Ashland University as well.
PBR: Coach Rypel was just hired as the new coach at Calvin. How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?
Stewart: I'm looking forward to it. I have talked to him already and seems like a very good coach. I feel he will do a great job with the program.
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?
Stewart: They saw my NCSA video and contacted me. They invited me for a campus tour and I went. I then talked to the coach as he invited me to their college baseball showcase and that is where they most likely made their decision to recruit me.
PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?
Stewart: It was. A lot of showcasing and a lot of work. At the same time it was a fun journey. You just never know what to expect at some of these showcases.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on your baseball career and how did they impact your baseball career?
Stewart: To start off, I have to give my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all the credit. He was the one who gave me the ability to play and he is the one who opened doors for me to get where I am today. Also my dad had a huge impact on me as well.
PBR: Who did you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Stewart: I played for a very elite team. They are called the Michigan Jets and we had a very stacked team. The most exciting experience was winning the 11 inning game against a very good Midland Berryhill team.
PBR: What were your stats this season at Parkway Christian?
Stewart: Some important stats for Parkway were .519 batting average, .800+ slugging, 36 RBIs, 20 game hit streak, 123 plate appearances, and three home runs.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced?
Stewart: Toughest pitcher I have faced was definitely Matt Ruppenthal.
