Chaz Bova, C, Brunswick HS, Class of 2014

PBR: Why did you choose Heidelberg?

Bova: I chose Heidelberg for many reasons. They have had a lot of success over the years and I feel as if their program is continuing to move in the right direction. Along with what they have done on the field, I was impressed with what they had to offer in the classroom as well. It was the perfect fit for me both academically and athletically.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Bova: Bluffton and Ashland

PBR: With Coach Fitzgerald becoming the new Head Coach at the end of the season.  How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Bova: It is a definitely a good feeling. Coach Fitz is a great guy who has great ideas as the program continues to improve. I am excited he has chosen me to be part of this success and his first recruiting class.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Bova: As an individual player, I hope to be able to relax and just play baseball the way I know how to. As a team, I hope to make another run for a district championship as we did last season.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Bova: The Midwest Pelicans and the most memorable moment was playing in Nashville at Vanderbilt.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Bova: My parents have the greatest impact on my career as they are always pushing me to be the best I can be, they always are able to attend my games, and have helped me greatly to achieve my greatest goal in becoming a collegiate athlete.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Bova: Kade McClure, Mentor
