Q and A with 2014 Sinclair Commit: Billy Kidd (Marysville HS)
February 22, 2014
Billy Kidd, INF, Marysville HS, Class of 2014
PBR: Why did you choose Sinclair?
Kidd: I chose Sinclair because I really enjoyed campus, Coach Dintaman seems like a great coach and I also feel that it is a great stepping stone for me to play Division 1 baseball.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Kidd: I was also considering St. Bonaventure, Alderson-Broaddus, Mount Union, and Aurora University in Chicago.
PBR: Sinclair is known for sending many of their players to 4 year colleges. How much of a role did that play in your decision to go to Sinclair?
Kidd: It played a huge role, it is still a goal of mine to play college baseball at the top level and I believe Coach Dintaman can help me achieve that goal.
PBR: Where did the Coach Dintaman first see you?
Kidd: At a camp at Otterbein University run by Ohio Elite.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.
Kidd: This past summer I played for my legion team, Union Post 79. My most memorable moment was probably going to a tournament in Myrtle Beach and playing the best competition I've probably ever seen. One team had 3 kids who played for NC State earlier that year.
PBR: Sinclair CC plays at a beautiful facility in Grady’s Field. How much of a role did distance play in your decision?
Kidd: Grady's Field helped my decision also. The all turf facility is awesome and I wanted to call it my home field.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Kidd: I expected the recruiting process to be a little simpler than it actually was. I also thought I would've ended up committing a lot sooner than I actually did.
PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Marysville?
Kidd: Last spring I believe I ended the regular season batting .425, 19 RBI's, .525 SLG%, and 16 stolen bases.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Kidd: The toughest pitcher I faced was Alec Tuohy from Gahanna Lincoln in the Regional semi's last year.
