Q&A with 2017 Louisville Commit: Trey Leonard
September 23, 2014
Trey Leonard, OF, Cedar Rapids Washington, Class of 2017
PBR: Why did you choose University of Louisville?
LEONARD: This was one of my dream schools ever since I watched them play in the CWS when I was younger.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
LEONARD: University of Iowa
PBR: Where did Louisville first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
LEONARD: They first saw me from my showcase with PBR Iowa. The relationship developed because of my hitting coach Tim Evans and PBR. I feel very close to and comfortable with their coaching staff already.
PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?
LEONARD: I’m willing to play whatever role Coach McDonnell needs me to play to help them win games.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
LEONARD: Tim Evans
PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?
LEONARD: I spent a lot of time this past off season working on bunting and I’m focusing now on getting better reads off the bat when playing OF.
PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Iowa?
LEONARD: Senior catcher from Dubuque Senior HS David Janes.
PBR: Are you excited to be done with your decision and recruiting?
LEONARD: Very excited! I feel like the pressure is off now. I can concentrate on school and improving as a player.
