Brit Doerflein, C, Elder

PBR: Why did you choose Wittenberg?
Doerflein:  I choose Wittenberg because of their outstanding academic reputation.  Additionally, I really enjoyed meeting the coaches, especially coach Lewis, and my future teammates.  I really felt like I was part of the team from my first visit.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Doerflein:  I was considering DePauw University, Centre College, and Rose-Hulman in addition to Wittenberg.

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Doerflein:  Coach Lewis first saw me on a recruiting DVD that I sent him.  I then participated in a fall showcase at the Wittenberg campus where the coaches saw me in person.  I have stayed in close contact with Coach Lewis since then.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Doerflein:  Coach Lewis has indicated to me that I can be an impact player my first year and have the opportunity to play right away.  I am ready to do whatever's best for the team.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Wittenberg?
Doerflein:  I feel my biggest strength as a player is my work ethic.  My second biggest strength is my desire to win.  I think both of these qualities will contribute to the team success at Wittenberg.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Doerflein:  I play summer ball for the Cincinnati Storm Club.  My most memorable experience from last summer was our team winning the championship at the Southern Illinois University tournament in June.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Doerflein:  The most important goals to me are team goals.  I want to help Elder win the GCL league championship and then a Division 1 state championship.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Doerflein:  I have faced alot of tough pitchers in Ohio.  One of the toughest I faced recently was Zach Shannon from Moeller.
