RBI Wood Bat Tournament

We took in a few games at the RBI Wood Bat Tournament hosted at Lowville HS last week. Here's who caught our eye.

Ian Anderson RHP / SS / South Lewis , NY / 2021Wiry, athletic 6-foot-1 155 pounds. IN the Friday showcase the RHP worked in the mid to upper 70’s, touching 79 MPH with a slider feel to his breaking ball at 65-68 MPH. In Saturday’s action he showed a flat swing path collecting a couple line drive singles. Frame will support additional gains. Threw a CG 5 hitter in the final with 10 strikeouts.

Derek Crofoot 1B / RHP / South Lewis, NY / 2019Strike thrower who competes on the mound and can change speeds. Hovered in the 79-80 range and worked with good tempo.

Drew Crofoot SS / RHP / South Lewis, NY / 2019Athletic who handles the bat well; ranges to his glove side and showed off an accurate arm. Table-setter approach with consistent contact at the plate.

2020 INF Simon Dubois (Paul-Desmaris, ONT)
Long and rangy LHH who cross cuts the zone with some bat speed. Made a sliding backhand play on a groundball up the middle with a quick exchange and accurate throw.
2022 RHP/INF Jonah Shearer (Beaver River)
Lean, wiry build with a ¾ arm slot. Repeats delivery; keeps FB down and was able to mix and match with CB at 65-66 that featured late depth. Sat 77-78 MPH most of the outing with additional velocity to come.
2022 MIF Ben LaRock (Lisbon)
Rangy build; handled all chances flawlessly at SS during Saturday AM game. Showed compact stroke with a line drive 1B (4.85 on a turn) in the 3 hole for the North Country Bombers. Worked 74-75 on the mound with a lateral action slider at 66 MPH.
