Recruiting News Around Missouri

Prospects from Missouri continue to make their commitments to continue their baseball career at the next level.

RHP Trey Tigart from Sikeston has commited to Webster University. At a recent PBR event, the lanky 6-foot, 164-pound Tigart showed to be an effective and efficient pitcher who showed the ability to command three pitchers. While not overpowering, Tigart seems like the kind of pitcher that keeps batters off balance and gets outs. Coming from a high ¾ arm slot, Tigart’s fastball sat in the 82-84 mph range with heavy, late life.  He showed good feel for his off-speed pitches as well, with a curveball that had an 10-to-4 shape with late action in the 73-75 mph range, and a changeup in the 72-74 mph with arm side movement and down in the zone.

Vianney RHP Alex Hoffman will continue his career at Truman State. Hoffman has a good pitcher’s frame, standing 6-foot-1, 210-pounds and uses a strong lower half to pound the strike zone. Hoffman has good rhythm on the mound and has quick arm speed with free and easy arm action. Hoffman’s fastball sat 81-82 mph, topping at 83-mph with late arm side action. He also throws an 11-to-5 breaking ball in the 65-67 mph range that stays downs in the zone. Hoffman also throws a 72-75 mph change up with near fastball arm speed, showing late sink and fade; possibly his best pitch.

College of the Ozarks received a pair of commitments from Austin Reaves from Willard HS and Ethan Howser, a RHP/INF from Waynesville HS.

Reaves is a 6-foot, 155-pound LHP who posted a perfect 9-0 record with 71 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.80 last season. He should enter 2013 as the ace of the Willard staff.

Howser posted a .377 batting average with 11 doubles, 1 homerun and 19 RBIS while going 3-2 on the mound with a 2.88 ERA and 30 strikeouts.
