Ryan Schimpf Named Louisiana Crosschecker

Prep Baseball Report Louisiana is always striving to add quality baseball people in its quest to cover every corner in the state of Louisiana. Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana is excited to announce the addition of Ryan Schimpf as Louisiana Crosschecker. 

Schimpf’s baseball roots run deep in Louisiana, graduating from St. Paul’s HS {Covington, LA} in 2006. After enjoying a decorated high school career, Schimpf went on to play three years at Louisiana State University, where he would help lead the Tigers to a College World Series appearance in 2008 and a National Championship in 2009.

After earning 2008 SEC All-Tournament and 2009 2nd Team All-SEC honors, Schimpf was drafted in the 5th round of the 2009 MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. On June 14, 2016 Schimpf made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres, earning Rookie of the Month honors in July of 2016, and finished his rookie season with 20 home runs. Schimpf enjoyed a professional career spanning 10 years, including parts of three seasons in the big leagues with the Padres (2016 & 2017) and Angels (2018).
