Cimarron Memorial Products Play Late Game

Buddy Gouldsmith
Nevada Scouting Director

Late on Sunday, while most locals had gone home or at the very least started that dreaded drive back to Phoenix or Southern California, two teams were still on the field. Interesting enough, both teams are California based, TB Socal and Team California. Even more intriguing is that two players hail from the Vegas valley, Elie Kligman and Zach Culver, each attend Cimarron-Memorial. Kligman is a regular with TB SoCal, while Culver was a guest player.

Elie Kligman, SS/RHP, 2021, Cimarron-Memorial

Strong, 5-foot-10, 160, Kligman took the mound and made easy work of his opponents.  He has a loose, easy ¾ arm action with a fastball 81-83. Solid feel of a ¾ breaking ball 70-71 and an impressive feel for his changeup.  Both the fastball and changeup showed consistent sink. He displayed area control of 3 pitches with a repeatable delivery. At the plate, Kligman is a capable switch-hitter with more strength in his barrel from the right side.  He employs a patient approach at the plate.

Zach Culver, SS/RHP, 2019, Cimarron-Memorial

Lean, 5-foot-10, 160, Culver, has room in his frame for strength and weight increases. He showed solid infield actions with plenty of arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield. Although Culver pitches consistently for his high school squad, his future might be brightest in the infield with steady work. Culver could provide depth for a program looking for versatility or with development find a permanent home.
