Carter Krawchuk RHP / SS / St. Francis, ON / 2022

Report: Krawchuk, a recent 2022 Purdue commit had a good day on the bump, establishing the fastball early before pounding ABC hitters with the slider. Fastball sat 84-85, reaching 87 with some run and despite some swing and miss early, wasn’t even his best pitch. The 6-foot-0, 170-pound was able to locate his slider all day, getting ahead with it and even putting hitters away with it. The pitch had shape and flashed hard bite that led to swings and misses. Despite the velo being a little down, there weren’t many barrels and it was a good showing for Krawchuk against some good hitters from Quebec.

Alexis Gravel OF / LHP / Academie Baseball Canada, QC / 2021

Report: 2021 Alexis Gravel, a JNT member from ABC, put together one of the better performances on the day, patrolling centrefield and picking up a few hits, including a no-doubt home run to right-field in game 2. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Chipola commit is quiet and balanced in the box with a smooth, pull-oriented swing from the left-side. It’s more hit over power right now but as he showed yesterday, there’s potential for some more juice in the bat. Potentially the most intriguing positional talent in Quebec heading into his senior year.

Luis Pimentel Guerrero OF / SS / Corpus Christi, ON / 2022

Report: One of the most exciting uncommitted 2022s in Ontario, Pimentel did a lot of things well on Saturday and showed some versatility getting his reps at second base. The switch-hitter was making line-drive contact all day from the right-side, picking up two doubles and running the bases well. It’s a gap-to-gap approach from Pimentel as shown by a pull-double down the line and another to the backside gap. He has always put up quality AB’s and that was the case again, getting deep in counts until he found his pitch or worked a walk. Another good performance from Pimentel to close out his summer.

Robin Villeneuve LHP / OF / Academie Baseball Canada, QC / 2021

Report: 2021 Wheatherford CC commit Robin Villaneuve, of ABC was sharp early on, showing some pitchability with a three-pitch mix. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound left-hander was sitting in the low 80s with his fastball and it was his changeup with late fading action which was most effective, working as his out pitch. The arm works and as Villeneuve adds some velocity, he could become an interesting follow on the mound as he already shows advanced feel for his secondary stuff.

Davis Germann OF / RHP / Cameron Heights, ON / 2022

Report: Uncommitted 2022 Davis Germann was a standout at the dish on Saturday and has really developed his game over the past year. Not a ton of strength in his game yet but consistent hard, barreled contact allows him to find extra bases. The right-handed hitter works gap-to-gap and he went the other way for a double as well dead-centre for another which landed just short of the fence. Germann has good reads in centrefield and moves well. An under the radar player in the province who colleges should get to know.

Cameron Gurney C / SS / Pauline Johnson, ON / 2022

Report: 2022 Cam Gurney, a LHH catcher, is another player who's really grown and developed a lot this year, especially physically. It’s a strong, solid frame at 6-foot-0, 180-pounds and the bat will be the carrying tool for Gurney. There was loud contact on Saturday as he went the other way for a two-run shot, and there’s bat speed in the swing with power to all fields throughout the summer. Still a little raw behind the plate but there’s arm strength which allows him to control the running game. There’s a lot of upside with Gurney at the plate and he’s established himself as one of the more exciting position players in his class.

Mathys Ayotte RHP / Marie-Rivier, QC / 2022

Report: Uncommitted Mathys Ayotte, a 2021 right-hander,  was one of the more impressive arms from the ABC team on Saturday. It’s a strong frame at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds with a strong lower-half. Worked with a fastball/curveball combination and he was able to get ahead in counts with the fastball which allowed him to establish the curveball. Fastball sat 82-84, topping out at 85 and the curveball was effective, showing some late bite. He’s durable, gets outs, limits walks and would definitely help a program at the college level.
