Scouting Report: Week 4 of Fall Prospect Program



Below, we recap the last week of the 2012 Fall Prospect Program. To view reports from previous weekends, click here.

Blue Team

Kyle Pasheilich (Ontario HS, 2014) - FB 78-80, BB 65. Threw a lot of strikes and consistently sat down hitters. Needs to continue to develop secondary pitches, and work on velocity. Fastball would fluctuate 4-5 mph. Showed well at the plate as he barreled a couple baseballs. 

Sam Montgomery (Bishop Hartley HS, 2014) - Continued to impress while showcasing the ability to drive a ball backside and change the game on the base paths with his speed.

Andrew Chacey (Heath HS, 2013) - Showed a good approach at the plate. Stepped in the box ready to hit and drove a ball deep into left field for a double. Had good control on the mound with his 79-81 FB,

Nick Wiseman (Northeastern HS, 2014) - Has a good approach however need to try and be patient on breaking balls and develop better pitch recognition.

Vinny Sansalone (Ontario HS, 2013) - Squared up a couple baseballs and showed presence at the plate, however need to develop a little speed.

Daniel O'Keefe (Centennial HS, 2014)- Shows the opportunity to have good power however leaks everything out front side while hitting which may pose an issue to outside pitches.

Matt Wilch (River Valley HS, 2015) - Young arm who will continue to develop. Showed decent velocity for age with 76-78 mph FB. Has to work on a better load at the plate, and needs to develop and become stronger, however has plenty of time to do just that. 

Greg Suber (Delaware Hayes HS, 2014) - Projects as a prospect behind the plate more than a pitcher. Displayed a 76-79 mph FB with a little movement.

Alexander Staron (Athens HS, 2013) - Three Quarter arm slot allows Staron to project as a solid prospect. Will not overpower any hitters but his deceptiveness and delivery allows many of his pitches to miss barrels. FB 74-75, 63-66BB

White Team

Masashi Sakamoto (Dublin Jerome HS, 2013) - Shows a fluid delivery which could relate to more velocity with maturity. 80-84 FB. Breaking ball is above average and keeps hitters well off balance at 69mph.

Tom Coon (Dublin Jerome HS, 2013) - Overall solid prospect. Projects on the mound with his 80-82 FB. Coon was arguably the most impressive hitter in the fall with his gap power with the ability to provide home run power. 

Kyle Lento (Dublin Jerome HS, 2013) - Will be a great asset at the next level. The above average ability to play many different positions while also showing a good approach at the plate makes Lento a valuable piece to any club.

Corey Gould (Marysville HS, 2013) - Left handed swinging middle infielder impressed more and more every week. Has a very consistent swing at the plate and played well while getting defensive opportunities. 

Spencer Howell (Oakwood HS, 2015) - Young player who will develop as time passes. Shows a solid approach at the plate while also displaying above average hands while turning double plays. Will need to keep getting stronger to allow his solid approach to become effective.

Connor Holdren (Hilliard Darby HS, 2013) - Solid prospect at the plate, and showed the ability to make some tough plays at third. Will need to develop greater fielding fundamentals and gain arm strength to be effective at the next level.

Ryan Curtis (Westerville North HS, 2014) - Continued to get hitters out as he has done each and every week. Has a solid frame to work with and has the potential to gain some velocity. FB sat around 79-81mph.

Jake Newton (Bloom Carroll HS, 2013) - Continued to show good pitchability. Velocity was consistent at 77-79 mph.

Crimson Team

AJ Kazmierczak (Westfall HS, 2013) - Solid scrappy player who made some solid plays defensively and also showed some pop at the plate with a double. Great job staying back and driving breaking ball

Jonathon Griebel (Whetstone HS, 2013) - Displayed great command and threw the ball very well. FB 80-81, BB 68-70

Tate Hughes (Bexley HS, 2014) - FB 69-70, 55 BB. At the plate Hughes drove in a run.

Kevin Davis (Watterson HS, 2013) - FB 73-74, BB 57-58

Greg Jacknewtiz (Watterson HS, 2013) - 79-81 FB, 70 BB

Chase Antle (Grove City HS, 2015) - 76-78 FB, 68-69 BB

Evan Skinner (Grove City HS, 2015) - 71-72 FB, 60-61 BB

Daniel Sexton (Watkins Memorial HS, 2013) - 79-81 FB, 69 BB. Showed very well with improved command and loose arm action.

Cole Music (Watkins Memorial HS, 2013) - 69-70 FB, 63-64 BB

Zach Roe (Buckeye Trail HS, 2013) - 71-73 FB, 64 BB

Navy Team

BJ Donathan (Tippecanoe HS, 2014) - Shows good frame behind the plate; however needs to keep feet underneath him while also developing a more consistent transfer from glove to hand.

Braydon Focht (Northmont HS, 2014) - Showcased some prospect worthy stuff. Interesting follow heading into next spring. FB 80-82 with a 77 BB.

Brandon Veda (Bishop Fenwick HS, 2015) - Needs to work on frame and continue to develop and become stronger.

Jeremy Randolph (Miamisburg HS, 2014) - Projects as a solid prospect, showed above average arm in the infield while displaying his consistent 82-84 FB on the mound. 

Dominic Cooper (Grove City HS, 2014) - Needs to become more consistent at the plate however shows some arm strength in the infield while also displaying exceptional speed.

Alex Mezcua (Mason, 2013) - Showcased some good 12-6 breaking balls; however needs to develop more lower half while pitching and gain some velocity to allow his breaking ball to be more effective.

Richard Nolde (Archbishop Alter, 2014) - Showcased some backside power with a double. Displayed a 67-70 FB and 55-56 BB.

Jonathan Banks (CHCA, 2013)- Will without question be a solid player at the next level. Solid attitude combined with skills and room for development make Banks a definite prospect.
