TEAM STRENGTHS
Montgomery Blair has a strong core of players who are returning and coming off of successful 2015 season. The team had a taste of success and are hungry for more and to go further in the postseason. The strong senior core of Salzman, Ramsey, Kiefhaber, Noda, and Pfefferle will contribute to a balanced lineup and a strong defensive prowess.
QUESTION MARK
One of the big questions is how SS/RHP Max Salzman will return because the senior will miss part of the season with an injury so an inexperienced pitching staff will need to step up. The team needs to replace about 75% of the innings from last year and losing Salzman at the beginning will hurt the rotation. The Blazers will need plenty of new arms to step in and give a young pitching staff some stability.
WILDCARD
Cullen Morris is a senior pitcher who had a strong offseason and Montgomery Blair is hoping he’ll play a huge role out of the bullpen. Coach Zolkiewicz is confident that the pitcher will step in and shore up the bullpen.
OVERALL
It should be an interesting year watching the Blazers in 2015 with so many core players returning and the success of 2014. Look for some strong competition from Montgomery Blair as they strive to make a long postseason run this season.
