Dylan Stewart is one of two players to be awarded the Inaugural Shipyard/PBR Showdown Tournament Co-MVP after an impressive performance over the weekend. The rangy middle infielder is a Charleston Southern Recruit and put together an impressive offensive effort and provides a solid defensive staple to the Knights efforts. The leadoff man led the team in plate appearances for the weekend working his way on base an astounding 11 times. Stewart hit an incredible .578 on the weekends and scored 6 runs. He reached base in all 4 games and added 2 stolen bases to his stat line. Stewart is a talented player that possesses the skills to continue his hot start and will continue to set the table for a potentially potent Stratford Offense.

TOURNAMENT CO-MVP - EASTON CULLISON - BYRNES

Easton Cullison claims the second of two Co-MVP awards for the Shipyard/PBR Showdown. The leadoff hitter for the Rebels locked down the short stop position and sparked the offense to score a total of 29 runs in 4 games . His compact athleticism and competitive make up are fun to watch. He took some big swings from the left side but also showed his ability to put the ball in play and work the count, earning 5 walks during the event. A rangy middle infielder with fringe average arm strength suggest a move to 2nd may be possible at the next level.

MV-PITCHER - JEFFREY MAIDHOF - NATION FORD

Maidhof took the ball for the Falcons and pitched them to a victory in game one of the Shipyard/PBR Showdown to earn the MV-Pitcher award. The game as a whole was as close to perfect as you could get, without throwing a perfect game. The NaFo starter only allowed 1 hit through 7 innings and walked 0. The physical inning-eating frame should see some quality innings for the Falcons. Another impressive stat from Maidhof's outing was the fact that his fastest FB velo was recorded in the 6th inning at 89 mph. Queens Recruit.

The Coastal Carolina recruit showed off twitchy athleticism from his medium lean frame all weekend long. He played both positions up the middle with above-avg arm strength and good range. Accurate throws were carried to the bag and difficult plays were made to look easy. He looks at home in the middle infield but threw 3 solid innings of relief and picked up a win. His FB was up to 88 with life through the zone and the breaking ball has devastating snap at the plate. He easily projects to get two way opportunities during his freshman fall in Conway.

Chassereau was one of the most consistent Warriors all weekend hitting safely in 3 out of 4 games. The medium build gives off a good upside of strength and athleticism. He did not commit an error at the hot corner for Indian Land during the tournament.

TRAVIS LOTT - STRATFORD

The Citadel recruit has a well rounded build on a large frame. He will be able to really dial in on his physical development and will solidify his already impressive physique at the next level. Good competitor who plays the game hard and works for his pitchers behind the plate. Pop times ranges from 1.98-2.14. He also played some 1st base but looks more comfortable behind the dish. Did notrecord a strike out during the weekend at the plate, while collecting 7 hits and 3 EBH.

Slender frame with length in the limbs. Took a loud round of BP that translated into some quality swings in-game. Tracks well in the outfield with good reads and efficient routes. Good present strength that projects to only get better. Got the start for the Rebels in the championship game on Sunday and was dominate with fastballs in the upper 80's and sharp sliders that disappeared at the plate.

BRADLEY BOTT - NATION FORD

The UNC Greensboro recruit hit both leadoff and in the 3 hole for the Falcons at one point or another over the weekend. The athletic frame has several quality tools and Bott is a solid center fielder. He didn't strike out over the weekend and stole 4 bags, the do all man for the Flacons could give offense a much needed spark.

Kirkleys large frame produces a three pitch mix of FB, CB, and CH. Kept hitters off balance with a heavy fastball that he worked down in the zone. Two-way player batted 3rd in the order for the Panthers. Will have a chance to put up some RBI numbers in that line-up moving forward. Profiles more as an arm with good pitchability and high baseball IQ.

Larger frame that is thicker through the mid section on the USC Sumter recruit. Pulls the head out at times but has enough of an approach to adjust mid AB and produce quality contact. LHP threw 3 innings in game one, lost control for stretches but battled through. Make up is good, if he goes this year so will Byrnes.

TYLER CAUSEY - NATION FORD

Looks like he is starting to figure out the long physique. The defensive prowess looks like it is trending in the right direction. He ranged deep into the hole and showed off a quick transfer and release on a jump throw to first for an out. This was not the only time he showed off his ability to cover a lot of ground during this event ranging up the middle and charging choppers several times with smooth transfers and accurate throws. Only defensive lapse came on a back hand where the body was slightly out of control and it tied up the feet slightly. There is still potential for a move to a corner INF spot down the line. In 4 games this weekend there is cause for concern with the number of swings and misses. The swing can get long and he can tie himself up on pitches on the inner half. The ball explodes off the bat when he gets the barrel to contact he turned on a ball rifling a low line drive to RF that short hopped the wall for a triple and he launched a no doubt home run to the opposite field in game 4.

Youthful RHP with a ton of life to the fastball from a 3/4 slot. Uber heavy FB/CH combo with a ton of heavy fade on both pitches. Did a good job in two appearances moving the baseball and keeping it off the barrel. Pitched with a young confident energy and attacked hitters.

JACK THOMPSON - BYRNES

Physical 3rd baseman with room to continue his physical development. Swing leaned to the pull side but the bat to ball skills are fair and the power will continue to develop. Fringe-avg arm strength should improve as he evolves. Solid glove work with confident hands and reliable footwork.

JUSTIN LEHMAN - NATION FORD

Athletic catcher caught 3 of the 4 game during the event. Pop range from 2.02-2.18. Block and recover can get a little sloppy at times but the athleticism is just starting to trend in the right direction giving him a high ceiling. Present arm strength is strong-avg and will only get better.

Lean LHP with a clean, repeatable delivery. Used a well controlled fastball with ASR and a CH with matching arm speed and fade. Should keep the Knights in games this year with his pitchabiliy. Some upside to the frame. Arm action and frame could support additional velocity.
