Shooter's Shortlist: Great Plains & Texas 2025s

Shooter Hunt
Vice President, Scouting

As the season inches towards summer and the recruiting trips get planned, a look into the must-see uncommitted underclassmen that PBR’s Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt, is circling for college coaches to plan around.

COLORADO

Wyatt Rudden RHP / OF / Cherry Creek, CO / 2025

Loose in the back with a whippy right arm, Rudden was up to 89.7 mph in a preseason bullpen for PBR Colorado where he emerged as a must-follow coming out o the Mile High City. Up to 2521 rpm from a near ¾ slot, Rudden looks the part of a VAA-darling, and countered the fastball with a tightly-spun (2699 rpm) slider (71-73) with sweeping action that holds upside of developing into a firm sweeper in the future. Dynamic on the mound with quality extension, the wiry 6-foot, 160-pound right-hander is clearly a name to know.

IOWA

Taitn Gray OF / C / Dallas Center-Grimes , IA / 2025

A switch-hitter with fluid movement from both sides of the plate, Gray’s impressive frame at 6-foot-2, 299-pounds is sure to excite college coaches, especially when considering his triple digit exit velocities. His quick hands trigger big bat speed with only a tight window needed to bring on the explosiveness.

KANSAS

Jack Schwab LHP / Blue Valley, KS / 2025

MISSOURI

Leo Humbert OF / LHP / Francis Howell , MO / 2025

Humbert is an “absolute monster” at 6-foot-1, 195-pounds with thick, present strength throughout an ultra-athletic frame. An angry runner, the right-handed hitter impacts the baseball with authority before accelerating out of the box. He posted exit velocities up to 104.6 mph in the preseason with upwards of 407 ft. blasts. A 6.73-runner with an 89 mph arm from the outfield, look for the talented sophomore to have a breakout spring/summer.

Richie Swain RHP / Timberland , MO / 2025

TEXAS

Connor Jones RHP / 3B / Concordia Lutheran, TX / 2025

Mason Murphy 1B / RHP / Ridge Point, TX / 2025

At 6-foot-3, 200-pounds playing for one of the state’s top team’s, Murphy is hardly hiding out in the Lone Star State, and is likely to have plenty of attention following him the rest of the spring. The burly right-hander possesses one of the more imposing frames in the class, and carries an explosive 85-88 fastball that jumps through the zone with more than 2600 rpm. Easy in his ability to repeat a simple delivery, the quick-armed right-hander delivers from a near ¾ slot, and is more than likely set to see a significant jump in velocity in the near future. Murphy also shows some feel for a sharper slider at 77-78. His upside as a future power-arm out of a state that produces some of the best is what is sure to have college coaches heading to Texas in a hurry.

Kaleb Rogers RHP / OF / Reagan, TX / 2025
