Our weekly Diamond Notes highlights notable players that were nominated by their coaches for Southern California Player of the Week award for the week of April 8-14. Though not selected as the Player of the Week, they earned this special recognition.

2019 Daniel Mariscal - Long Beach Poly HS - The uncommitted senior catcher & team captain was clutch in a huge win over league rival Millikan on Friday. He went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 doubles - including an RBI double in the 3rd to put his team up - and scored a run. He also was 2/2 on throwing out runners putting him at throwing out 18 of 22 would be base stealers on the season!

2020 Jack Silvera - Windward School - The uncommitted junior started all three games with a leadoff hit and went 5-for-7 in two games against Sierra Canyon and 3-for-3 against Brentwood. For the week he was 8-for-10 with a double, 2 BB, 4 runs, 1 RBI, and 3 stolen bases.  

2020 P Craig Hunter - Murrieta Mesa HS - Despite taking the 1-0 loss against Paloma Valley, Hunter threw a complete game and only surrendered one run on one hit over seven innings, striking out one and walking zero.

2021 RHP Jhayden Raineri - Murrieta Mesa HS - At the plate Raineri was 7-for-0-17 with 2 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. On the bump he had 6.2 IP, 1 Win, 1 Save, 6 K's, 5 Hits with a 1.46 ERA. Defensively he helped keep them Rams in a close game against Chaparral last week with 5 assisted outs to lead the team.

2019 3B/RHP - Cameron Skinner - Murrieta Mesa HS - Cameron Skinner was 7 for 27, had 6 RBI's and boasted a .88 ERA on the mound with 5.1 IP, 5 Hits, and 6 K's. Skinner also picked up a complete game shutout win over Chaparral in Southwestern League play last week, giving up just five hits, striking out seven and walking two.

2020 OF - Andrew Morris - Murrieta Mesa HS - Morris has been on fire for Murrieta Mesa going 9-for-17 during the Rams Spring Break tournaments with a double, triple, 3 stolen bases and 5 runs scored.

2019 1B Dominic Lopez - Citrus Valley HS - Lopez was 3-for-5 with 2HR, scored 4runs and knocked in 5rbi’s for the week as the team split league play with Cajon Cowboys.

2020 RHP Chris Wilson - Arcadia HS - Wilson threw a CG shut out on Friday in Arcadia's 12-0 5 inning win over Burroughs (Burbank). Wilson was perfect through the first 4 innings and finished the game allowing only 2 hits and striking out 7.

2019 Tyler Quintero - Arcadia HS - Quintero paced the offense in Arcadia's 2 games vs. Burroughs (Burbank) with a 3-for-4 performance in Tuesday's game and following that up with a 2-for-3 game on Friday.  For the week Quintero went 5-for-7 with a 2B, 3B, 4 runs, and 4 RBI. 

2019 CF Darren Hunter - La Sierra HS - The uncommitted senior was 7-for-14 with two doubles and 3 runs scored including the game winning 2 RBI walk off double against Ramona at San Manuel Stadium in County Clash

2019 RHP Cade Nicol - West Ranch HS - The Colorado Mesa signee beat league rival Hart High School on Friday.  He threw a complete game 77 pitches with 6 Ks. Allowed no earned runs in route to a 3-1 win. He walked just 2 and allowed only 4 hits as he picked-up his 6th win of the season. 

Senior Izaak Martinez - Glendora HS - The senior LHP went 6 innings getting a no decision vs Alta Loma. Allowed only 1 hit striking out 7 and walking only one.

2019 C Michael Carpentier - Yucaipa HS - The Arizona State signee  was 4-7 with 5 RBI in a double header against Murrieta Valley this Saturday.

2019 OF Alex Pimentel - Villa Park HS - The Long State State signee 6 for 9 - 3 Doubles - 1 Triple - 1 Home Run - 4 RBIs - 3 Runs - 2 Game winning RBIs against Esperanza on Wednesday and Friday. On the season he’s hitting .342 with 15 RBI, 7 doubles, 18 runs, 15 walks, and only 7 strikeouts.

2019 - C/RHP - Devlin Lindeman - Temescal Canyon HS - Uncommitted - In 2 games last week, Devlin hit .800, collecting 4 hits in 5 at bats, including 2 doubles, 2 walks and a stolen base. Behind the plate, Devlin picked off 4 base runners. For the year, Devlin is hitting .295 with 4 doubles, 4 home runs, 10 RBIs, 16 runs scored, 17 walks and 12 stolen bases. On the mound, Devlin has thrown a total of 7 innings, surrendering 3 hits, 4 runs and 12 strikeouts. Behind the plate, Devlin has thrown out 11 of 27 base stealers and has picked off 11 base runners.

2019 Nate Salas - South Hills HS -  Salas had four hits, four rbi, and a 3 run homer vs Los Altos last week. 

OF Jason Givens - Santa Fe HS - In 3 games Given was 2-for-3 2R 2RBIs vs. Whittier, 2-for-4 1 2B 1R 1RBI vs. California, 3-for-3 1 2B 2R 2RBI vs. California. Friday had the go ahead hit with 2 RBIs that won the game and put Santa Fe in 1st place. Week stat line: 7-10 5R 2 2B 5RBIs.

2019 P Andrew Sparlin - Valley Christian Academy - The uncommitted senior pitched a two hit shutout last Tuesday vs Coast Union in a big Coast Valley League match up. It was to clinch second place and it allows us to shoot for a league title on this Tuesday vs Dunn. He also hit a grand slam to help his cause with a 10-0 victory.
