The Dugan Ward Tournament was hosted by Ashdown High School. It was a very competitive field with teams 3 different classifications, with some of the best teams in western Arkansas.

Thursday

Arkadelphia-11, De Queen-1

2018 OF  Maddoux Brashears 2017 MIF Turner Pentacost and 2018 C Alec Ruble all had multi-hit games for Arkadelphia. Brashears was 3-for 4 with 3 RBIs, Pentacost was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, while Ruble was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. 2018 Carson Almond and 2018 Drew Saunders combined to throw a 2 hitter with7 strikeouts and no earned runs. 2017 OF Cayden Tollett had a walk and a run scored for Dequeen.

Ashdown-2, Arkansas High-0

Ashdown High School, defeated Arkansas High School behind a strong pitching performance by 2017 RHP/MIF Tajh Bishop 6 innings 5 strikeouts, allowing just 1 hit. Offensively Charlie Trammell  stood out going 3 for 3 with a double and a run scored. 2018 OF Dylan Adcock picked up a single for Arkansas High School as they little production.

Prairie Grove-8, Genoa Central-2

2017 RHP/INF Reed Orr’s big day propelled Prairie Grove to an 8-2 win over Genoa Central High School. Orr pitched 5 innings allowing no runs and just 1 hit while striking out 5. He slammed the door late with a grand slam that pushed the score to 8-2. He finished the game 1 for 3 with 4 RBIs. Orrs Grand Slam capped off a 7 run inning. Genoa Central received a strong pitching performance from 2020 Cason Brigham.

Friday

Arkansas High-10, Genoa Central-2

2018 LHP/OF Gage Gore had a dominant performance both on the mound and at the plate to propel Arkansas High School to victory over Genoa Central High School. Gore pitched 5 innings allowing just 1 run. Offensively he was 2 for 4 with a double, a walk and 3 runs scored. Genoa Central received a solid day from 2018 Trevor Wells who was 2 for 3 on the day.

Greenwood-8, Monticello-1

Greenwood received a strong pitching performance from 2018 RHP Blake Pschier. He threw 6 innings allowing just one run with 5 strikeouts. Greenwood’s offense was efficient in taking advantage of mistakes made by Monticello scoring 8 runs on just 4 hits. Big blows were made by 2018 CIF/OF Ryan Daggs who finished the day 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored while 2020 MIF/OF Colten Sagely was with 2 RBIs and a runs scored. Monticello picked up a big day from 2017 MIF Clint Piggot who was 3 for 4 with a double.

Ashdown-9, Prairie Grove-8

Ashdown defeated Prairie Grove 9-8 in a back and forth affair that was decided in the bottom of the 7th. Prairie Grove received offensive production from 5 different players. 2017 INF Reed Orr hit a homerun for the second time in two days as a stand out for the Tigers. 2017 MIF Taj Bishop paced Ashdown going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a run scored.

Saturday

Monticello 3 vs De Queen 2
Genoa Central 12 vs De Queen 1
Greenwood 6 vs Arkadelphia 3
Prairie Grove 10 vs Arkadelphia 5

Championship

Ashdown 8 vs Greenwood 3

Ashdown defeated Greenwood 8-3 behind a dominant all around performance RHP/CIF Jaden Hill. Hill pitched 5 ⅔ inning allowing 1 earned run, while striking out 10 and walking just 2 hitters. Offensively Hill was 1 for 2 with a homerun and 3 RBIs and a run scored. 2018 C Alex Day also had a big offensive day 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Greenwood attempted to rally late scoring 2 runs in the 6th but, the hole was too far to climb. 2018 OF/CIF Ryan Daggs had 2 hits on the day for Bulldogs, including a double and 2 RBIs.
