Season Outlook
The 2017 Purcell Dragons may well be the most experienced high school team in Oklahoma. They will return eight every-day starters, including the entire pitching staff, from a season ago. Four of these returners, will be seniors who have started for the Dragons in the previous three seasons. Also on the roster will be four more players with varsity starting experience.

On the mound, a talented and uncommitted senior, Jarrett Sweeney, will be the ace of Purcell’s rotation.  Also filling major roles on the staff, likely in the starting rotation, be seniors Dillon Cook and  Dylan Collateta along with junior Ethan Wayland. Waylon Steiner will look to have a break-out  junior year and help on the mound as well.

Offensively, the Dragons will look to Murray State commit Brett Webb to lead the offense from the heart of the order.  Joining Webb in the middle of the lineup will likely be Collateta and Sweeney. Setting the table for Purcell could be junior Fernando Auz.

Defensively, the Dragons will rely on strong corner play, good catching, and some versatility. The corners will be manned by Webb at third and senior Brady Barrett at first base. Auz and fellow junior Cauy Hollis will form a strong catching duo.  Barrett and Hollis also have the ability to help in the outfield.
