St. Stephens- 14  Alexander Central- 5

Alexander Central visited St. Stephens as both teams kicked off their seasons on a great evening for baseball. It didn't take long for the Indians offense to get going as Gavin Marley led off the game with a single up the middle, moved to second on a sac bunt and then scored on a base hit by Julien Peissel. The Indians added one more in the first for the early 2-0 lead.

St. Stephens put together quality at bats throughout the night that led to several multi run innings scoring in 5 of their 6 trips to the plate. Leadoff hitter Gavin Marley was a spark plug for his club throughout the game seeming to always be on base for the middle of the order. Silas Isenhour, Peyton Young, and Justin Skewes all had big hits for the Indians.

Julien Peissel was strong on the mound for the Indians keeping the Cougars off the board until the 4th. Peissel worked 4.1IP while striking out 7. Peyton Young and Josh Barkley finished the game in relief. Alexander Central threatened at times but could never seem to get a big hit. Overall a solid performance from St. Stephens to open their season.

Silas Isenhour, C/1B, 2022

Strength present in a 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame. Put together a quality game at the plate hitting 4 balls off the barrel. Left hand hitter is relaxed in the box, even base with his barrel starting flat on his back shoulder. Quiet load with a flat barrel path through the zone. Uses a middle to opposite field approach and keeps his barrel inside the ball. Got his barrel to pitches on the outer and inner halves of the zone. Hands have strength with above average barrel awareness and better than average bat speed.
