Stock Report: Class of 2015 RHP/1B Jake Ruder (Nixa HS)

By Ethan Silverman
Director of Scouting-Missouri

Jake Ruder from Nixa HS is a physically imposing 6-foot-5, 215-pound two way player, who as he continues to progress and fine tune his game, has the ability to be a premier player in the Class of 2015. Ruder is currently ranked No. 22 in the Class of 2015.

At the plate, Ruder showed the ability to hit the ball gap to gap, with big time pull power potential. He has pure, raw power at the plate. Ruder showed good extension through contact and control of his powerful swing.

On the mound, Ruder comes from a high ¾ arm slot with quick arm speed and a long, loose arm; the ball seemed to jump out of his hand. He threw a heavy fastball in the 78-81 mph range, a breaking ball in the 73-74 range, and a change up down in the zone with arm side movement in the 71-72 mph range.

This offseason, Ruder has been working on polishing his skills on the mound and at the plate. With his size at such a young age, he should see a big spike in velocity this year, and has a very high ceiling.
