In late June, we held our Maryland State Games at the University of Maryland. Close to 50 players were in attendance, and 11 of those players have since committed. The players were put through a pro-style workout and threw bullpens in front of our PBR Maryland staff and a number of colleges in attendance. Over the next few days, Maryland Scouting Director Jamie Naill will be taking a look at players who stood out.

Below, we take a look at five uncommitted infielders who should be on a ton of college coaches' radars.

Summer State Games Spotlights:

Sammy Berman MIF / SS / Walt Whitman , MD / 2025

One of, if not the top uncommitted middle infielder in the MD/DE Class of 2025 certainly did not disappoint in his appearance at this year's Maryland State Games in June. Possessing a strong 5-foot-9, 165 pound frame, Berman showcases his physicality in all phases of the game. At the dish, the strength is evident to the middle of the field, showcasing smooth, fluid actions with easy pop to the gaps and alleys (89 mph exit velo). Creating occasional loft to the pull side, Berman's power numbers will continue to increase as strength and mass is added to the frame. Defensively, the actions are smooth and fluid, showcasing soft hands with solid range side to side. Arm strength is solid (80 mph), with the ability to manipulate arm angles on slow rollers.

Eric Griffin 3B / RHP / Bishop McNamara, MD / 2024

One of the more physical and freakishly athletic uncommitted players in the class. At the dish, the hands show plenty of rhythm in the back load, whipping through the zone quickly with plenty of strength to the pull side (330 max distance). Creating consistent loft, Griffin's ceiling for power is one of the more intriguing in the class, especially as the feel for the barrel becomes more consistent. Loud doubles power for now should translate well heading into his Junior year at Bishop McNamara (93 mph exit velo). Defensively, the athleticism and arm strength should allow Griffin to stay at the hot corner at the next level, consistently showcasing quick twitch movements and soft hands. One of my favorites to keep an eye on this upcoming Spring.

Brady Kosc SS / 2B / Cape Henlopen , MD / 2025

One of the more under the radar uncommitted infielders in the 2025 class, Kosc showcases his athleticism in multiple facets of the game. Possessing a lean 5-foot-11, 160 pound frame, Kosc whips the barrel through the zone with authority, utilizing a strong gap-to-gap line drive approach. The ball consistently jumps to both gaps (89 mph exit velo), showcasing awareness for the barrel and a high contact rate. Defensively, the footwork is clean and quick with the ability to move side-to-side well. More of a second base profile for now.

Ryan Maxey SS / RHP / Georgetown Prep, MD / 2024

The top uncommitted player in the MD/DE Class of 2024, Maxey is a 2020 Junior Future Games Alum and a 2022 Future Games Alum, as well as standing out like always at our Maryland State Games this past June. The athletic, wiry 5-foot-9, 180 pound middle infielder possesses a smooth, fluid stroke from the left side, utilizing both gaps effectively with increased pop to the pull side. A high contact, top of the order type bat continues to impress each time we see him with increased maturity in all facets of the game. Utilizing quick hands at the dish (22.9 max hand speed), the barrel stays in the zone a long time creating whip through, staying within himself with strong line drive tendencies to the alleys. Defensively, Maxey has a ton of versatility, showcasing the ability to play any position at a high level. Soft hands, quick feet and a strong arm bodes well for Maxey to have a ton of options at the next level.

Mark Windle SS / RHP / Boys Latin, MD / 2025

Yet another high riser in the MD/DE Class of 2025, Windle's physicality in the 6-0, 175 pound frame stands out. The hands work fluid, creating consistent loft to the gaps and alleys with a high finish. The ball explodes off the barrel to the pull side, showcasing increased power numbers with plenty more to come as maturity begins to set in (90 mph exit velo). Showcasing excellent balance, Windle utilizes the lower half well with slight torque in the hips, staying controlled and smooth through the stroke. Defensively, the hands are soft with quick transfers in-game. The body may mold to more of a corner infield spot at the next level, however Windle excels at the shortstop position for now.
