The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each TSSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook:

The Tigers were much improved last year as they went 14-18 and pushed into the Middle Region tourney. It’s been a slow build in a very competitive district, but the positive is that they return all of the contributors from last season. ‘25 SS Alexander Peck (Arkansas Commit) is the headliner as he will anchor the defense and lead the team in a majority of the offensive categories. They’ll have a trio of upperclass arms that they’ll lean on with ‘23 RHP/INF Owen Block (Washington MO), ‘23 RHP/1B Townsend Stevenson (Washington MO), and ‘24 RHP/UTL Mahoney Daunic. Block has the biggest two-way upside as he’s been a consistent producer and Daunic can play multiple positions. Stevenson and Block have both been mid to upper 80s while Daunic has shown great pitchability. ‘25 UTL Carson Darr and ‘24 INF Grant Reilly will play all over the field. ‘23 OF Harrison Fitzgibbon will patrol the outfield with ‘24 OF Joseph Ozenne. ‘24 C Dylan Washko will be an emotional leader behind the plate and manage the pitching staff. ‘23 RHP/DH Aidan Savona and ‘23 OF Brock Burgess are returning from injury while ‘26 OF Andrew Walker will be one to keep an eye on this Spring. The Tigers will need to stay healthy as they have a thin roster, but a lot of experience as they’ll look to take another step forward in 2023.
