Team 24 Scout Day

After multiple reschedule dates and location changes nearly 20 players from the Team 24 organization took to the field at the brand new Tuckaseegee Dream Field Complex in Charlotte NC. The players completed a pro style workout which included a laser timed sixty, positional throwing velocities, exit velocity testing using the Trackman, Blast Baseball data collection, and pitcher bullpens. The classes of 2022, 2023, & 2024 were all represented in the event exclusively tailored to players in the Team 24 facility. Here is a quick look at some guys that stood out.

Anthony Umbach (2B/SS, Hickory Ridge, 2023) - Smaller frame. Smooth actions in the infield, quick hands and showed the ability to make throws to first from multiple arm slots. Good feel for the barrel during his BP round with consistent line drives, used the whole field.

Dion Brown (2B/RHP, Clover, 2024) - Slender profile with plenty of physical upside to like. Contact first approach at the plate and rangy defender, will only get better. Notable bullpen performance commanding the zone with multiple pitches. FB showed life at 77 with 2000-2200 rpm and he flashed a nice CB with 11/5 shape and 2400 rpm.

Eli Vickers (C, Legion Collegiate, 2023) - Large, lean frame at 6-0, 150lbs. Lengthy limbs will support additional weight as he develops physically and begins to mature. Solid defensive catcher handled pitches inside the shoulders consistently as well as at the edges of the zone. 89 mph Trackman exit velocity flashed some pop to the pull side.

Johnathan Douglas (SS/2B, Legion Collegiate, 2022) - Athletic build, medium frame. Middle infielder ran a 6.65 laser time at the scout day. Twitchy actions throughout. Steep bat path produced low line drives and ground balls. Works hard to play to the strengths. Good motor.

Jacob Hamrick (OF/2B, Kings Mountain, 2023) - 5-10, 130lbs Solid player with a foundation to build on. 7.08 sixty time. 89 mph exit velo (Trackman). Ground ball, line drive contact with a flatter bat path. Some pop when he catches it cleanly.

Ashton Pope (1B/OF, North Gaston, 2023) - Full frame with mix of strength and projection. Corner INF profile. Powerful actions, muscled the barrel through the zone generating some pop. Lofted path with a gap to gap approach.
