The Texas high school season kicks off on February 24, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 31, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire

SEASON PREVIEW

Coach Brad Wuensche will have a lot to look forward to this season with four returning starters and six returning arms from a solid 2019 Pirates club. After the loss of a few key pieces Lubbock Cooper will look towards seniors P/OF Ivan Castro, P/1B Aidan Pantoya, OF/P Keegan Dorris, and OF/P Kaden Moseley. These two-way players will be counted on to lead and ensure this Pirate team is battling for a district championship. Juniors MIF Kaleb Scull and IF/P Teige Mitchell will ensure the Pirates will be defensively and offensively sound, look for Teige to provide some innings on the mound as well. With some question marks at the bottom of the lineup contributions from sophomores IF/P Kyler Jordan and IF/P Holt Gibson will be needed
