The Mississippi high school season kicks off on February 26, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 29, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. Outlook

The Stringer Red Devils and coach Wade Weathers enter the 2019 season knowing they will need to rely on their arms and experience as they look to build on their south state championship appearance in 2018. Returning seven starters in the field as well as five pitchers that logged innings in 2018 have the confindence high for the Red Devil staff.  Two way player and East Central CC signee, Conner Hick will have a big role this year showcasing a low-mid 80s fastball with solid defensive ability in the outfield. Cayleb Dyess will hold down things on the infield and will be a big part in the offensive success of the lineup. Coach Weathers will also look to some underclassmen to have a bigger contribution in the lineup including 3B Jackson Parker, OF Omarion Bridges and LHP Jake Parker. The Red Devils feel good about the deep pitching staff and the experience of the roster in making another run at the 1A state title.
