Fall brings the updated rankings - a chance to see how players in Mississippi are stacking up both in state and nationally as we move closer to the 2020 high school baseball season. Many of the top prospects came together to showcase their skills for 17 area colleges and universities - let's take a look at some of the standouts...

Blake Pierce: Central Hinds Academy High School, Class of 2021; 6-foot, 165-pound lean frame; OF. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 90 mph, showing his strength and power ability. Starts in balanced wide stance, has a small load and uses a short stride right before his swing. Used an upward swing plane, and his bat speed was above average. In the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 65 mph;displayed soft hands and rhythmic feet. Used an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action. He displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.76.
Ethan Pulliam: Starkville High School, Class of 2023; 6-foot, 145-pound projectable frame; SS/OF. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 82 mph. Starts in balanced athletic stance with a wrapping load, then uses a toe tap to start his swing. Exhibits rapid bat speed, a long swing plane and a level finish. While in the infield, made throws across the field up to 81 mph. Used a high ¾ slot and a short arm action. He displayed speed and athleticism at the event, recording a 60 time of 6.76. On the mound, he was clocked sitting at 73-77 mph. His curveball (66 mph) had the most depth when he located it down by the hitter’s knees.

Brandon Edwards: Starkville High School, Class of 2021; 5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic frame; OF/RHP. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Starts in athletic stance with a wrapping load, then uses a short stride to start his swing. Bat speed was quick, and used a short swing plane. His best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 75 mph;displayed quick footwork and a twitchy exchange. Showed an-over-the-top slot and a long arm action. He performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.76.
