TOP 5

The Top 5 teams are the same with one noticeable shuffle. Southlake Carroll drops to No. 5 after going 1-1 last week, splitting a series with a tough Marcus Marauders club. The Dragons lost Game 1, 4-1, but won 9-6 in extras on Friday.

+ Sweeny: The Bulldogs continue to roll through the halfway mark of the season. After going 2-0 last week, they are now 10-0 in district.

+ San Antonio Reagan: The Rattlers are now 7-1 in District after going 2-0 last week with a 10-0 win over MacArthur, and 5-1 over Churchill.

+ Coppell: The Cowboys have won 9 in a row and 10-of-11 after defeating WT White twice last week.

ON THE RISE

+ Rockwall Heath: The Hawks jump from No. 20 last week, into the Top 10 at No. 9 after going 3-0 last week with two district wins and a non-district win over Forney. Their district record is now 7-1 which puts them in a first place tie with Tyler Lee. The Hawks also swept cross-town rival Rockwall a couple of weeks ago.

+ Boerne Champion: The Chargers move up a couple of spots after going 2-0 last week to bring their overall record to 21-3, 8-1 in district. They also currently hold the tie-breaker over Kerrville Tivy from an 11-5 win in a game earlier this season.

+ El Paso Americas: New to the ranking this week, they are 20-4 overall, 7-0-1 in district after going 2-0 last week. They have quality wins over Socorro, Frenship, Odessa Permian, and Midland Lee.

+ Kerrville Tivy: These guys have been climbing, and they are now the 6th 5A team in the Power 25. They went 2-0 last week with wins over Dripping Springs and Alamo Heights to move to 8-1 in district and 20-4 Overall.

ON THE BUBBLE

+ Cypress Fair: Don’t look now, but the Bobcats are 17-8 after going 3-0 to stay in first place in their district with a 10-1 record. Not sure many outsiders, including us, picked this club to be where they are, but hats off to a talented group. The next three weeks will determine who wins their district with two games against Langham Creek this week, Cy-Ridge and Cy-Woods the last two weeks of the season.

+ Katy Tompkins: They play in a tough league and are now 7-1 in District after going 2-0 with wins over Cinco Ranch and Seven Lakes, including a win over Katy earlier in the year.

+ Midlothian Heritage: The Jaguars are now 15-3, 7-0 in district after winning 15 of 16 since starting 0-2 this season.

+ Boerne: Now 7-0 in district, 19-2-1, the top 4 4A teams in the state may make for quite a tournament in Round Rock come June.
