Three Uncommitted Shortstops That Shine In OK's 2017 Class

With the fall baseball season well under way, some players are starting to feel the grind of the spring, summer, and now fall seasons back to back to back. Today, PBR Oklahoma takes an in-depth look at three top uncommitted shortstops from the 2017 class who are not only grinding it out, but excelling.

Eric Gutierrez, SS/2B, Westmoore HS
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound thick frame, strong lower half. In- game 4.40 home-to first. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle of the field approach, some bat speed. Balanced, athletic, slightly wide, quiet set-up, slight arm bar load, slight barrel tip, fast hands, good leg drive.  Defensively, sure handed, accurate arm.

Ben Replogle, SS, Home School
A 6-foot, 175-pound athletic, lean build. Offensively, right-handed hitter, middle-pull approach, some strength in hands. Balanced, athletic stance, some rhythm, short to contact, high finish, front foot heavy swing. Reported 7.0 60.Defensively, athletic actions, moves laterally well, average hands, flashed improved footwork, average arm strength. 

Blake Shannon, SS, Metro Christian Academy HS

A 5-10, 165-pound athletic build. Reported 6.82 60. Defensively, fluid actions, soft hands, clean feet, accurate arm, a college ready defender. Offensively, right handed hitter, middle-pull approach. Narrow, balanced, quiet set-up, moderate stride, easy swing, short to contact.
