Top-10 Profiles of 2021: No. 3, Gavin Kilen

As we approach the end of 2021, we're taking account of the PBR Illinois player profile pages to determine the players in our backyard whose profiles earned the most attention throughout the year. We're counting down the top-10 profiles in the state that received the most views, from No. 10 and on, concluding our countdown on New Year's Day by revealing the most-viewed profile of the year.

Our 3rd most viewed profile of 2021 was INF Gavin Kilen (Milton, 2022; Louisville), the same as he was in 2020. Currently the top-ranked prospect in the Wisconsin senior class and 60th overall on our national rankings, the left-handed hitter is impressive both at the plate and on the infield dirt. His high bat-to-ball skills and sure-handed actions up the middle solidify a strong all-around profile for the Louisville commit. We saw him a few times throughout this year, including a noteworthy performance at the South Milwaukee Preseason I.D. and yet another impressive glance at the Geico City Series this fall. Kilen is set to follow in the footsteps of several elite up-the-middle names from Wisconsin that have popped over the last several years.

Positional Profile: SS/2B No. 1 ranked prospect in WI's 2022 class, ranked 34th nationally.
Body: 5-11, 176-pounds. Athletic frame with present strength and room for future maturity.
Hit: LHH. Balanced approach, short leg lift trigger, on time and in rhythm hands, loose and comfortable in the box with excellent balance. Path is repeatable and athletic, loose, free and easy hands, short to the baseball with a consistent gap to gap approach. Consistently on the barrel, high level hand eye.
Power: 96.36 max exit velocity, averaged 91.59 mph. 360’ max distance. Above average power bat.
Arm: RH. C -  mph. INF - 92 mph. OF -  mph. Plus arm with carry, quick release, short over the top slot, works from multiple angles on the move.
Defense: Athletic, high end defender, ranges well with excellent body control and actions, hands play soft and out front, quick funnelling action.
Run: 7.04 runner in the 60.
